Quilt Show Ribbons

I entered three quilts into our local quilt show and each received a ribbon. It was a great learning experience. The Christmas Album received a red ribbon. Noted was the fact the appliques were not stitched down - I used Freida Anderson s method of stitching next to the fused applique.

Self-Portrait also received a 2nd place ribbon. Noted comments were the color border needed to be more consistent in size (so true). Also mentioned the hair being only 3 pieces made the detailed face seem flat. I'd never thought of that-good observation. Not noted were the "dog ears." I must improve binding accuracy and corners.

Christmas Cat received an Honorable Mention. Fraying on the applique was mentioned. Looking at it now, I think he could use more shading in the tail area and better design for what he is laying on and borders?  He is one of my favorites!

Son #2 phoned thrilled with the his College, 1st Army assignments T-shirt quilt! He takes his T-shirts seriously as memento's of life like a scrapbook. His genuine joy in receiving the quilt was music to my ears. He noted all the trapunto, accent quilting, recalled locations... such a pleasure to have my artistic endeavors appreciated.
