Quilts 2018

2018 was one of my most prolific years quilting. After quilting many donation quilts on my new HQ Avante, I felt experienced enough to start a longarming business. I'm showing only my quilts, the ones I designed, pieced, and sewed that I finished during 2018.

So lucky to have lessons and mentor Pat Alderman for ProStitcher and Art and Stitch. Longarms are like robotic arms and the set-up with your data input is what stitches out. So exciting!

This is the second Cajun quilt made.
My stylized photo print using Spoonflower printing with added borders.

Some llama fun!

This is the second Texas Longhorn I've quilted.

The "Checkerboard Rails" is a free pattern from Bonnie Hunters Quiltville.com.
I added the borders. Unlike the traditional rail fence pattern, this one is set on the diagonal giving it a more graphic design. I also used a checked fabric rather than piecing as in the pattern.

Such a treasure!

Free donated fabric with a sports theme made quick work for a donation quilt.

This grandson loves the trucks. Dump trucks, cement trucks, construction, etc.
This fabric panel is perfect for the building boy. I added borders.

Another quick panel quilt using a jungle panel with added borders.

Traveling cross-country the grandkids needed a map quilt, of course.
With state capitols and main production, it's like a geography book. (Hey, the sun is in my eyes!)

Stylized photo of Jack the Cat. Using the same photo I tweaked it in the Primo app in the Mozaic style.
I love how the quilt stitches shine on the satin.

Mystery fabric bundles were a Challenge from the SMQGuild. I wasn't wild about my fabric draw
but made a kinda graphic modern design.

Always fun to collaborate on a T-shirt quilt with my sister. This one is my nephew Corey's, an awesome soccer player. (In 2020 I made one from his team jerseys.)

I love the Redds' expression! He's my nieces most extraordinary dog. Large, personality plus and almost human. He looks great on red fabric too.

My friend Carole Lyles Shaw is a gifted teacher. She offers many piecing and layout classes with a modern viewpoint. Click here for her blog and online classes. This Mid-Century Modern class is now an on-demand class. I love her teaching style and use of color that produces a glow in her quilts.

This tea towel was too cute to dry dishes - so I added and added borders to a lap quilt size.

Though I'm not teaching, I still use the Graphic app on iPad often for quilt and stitch design.

While visiting #2 son in Washington state, he went with me into a quilt store and picked out fabrics. Really! He chose a buttery soft fabric for a "camper quilt" and the Seahawks fabrics for his brother.
The camper quilt is minky on front and I found fabric with the Washington state map for the back.

These are the fabrics #2 son chose for #1 son's Seahawks quilt-perfect.

Donated fabrics in precut squares and two beautifully embroidered Butterflies. The embroidery looks to be from the 1930's or 50's style. It's a classic cutie.

This cat just looks so studious, doesn't he! Click here for the free pattern from Shwin and Shwin here.

As I've gone through my 2018 quilt records, I show two quilts that I do not have photo's for. One is Marcia Derse's Alphabet fabric panel that was a donation quilt. The second one is Bench Plaid Quilt which is a decor quilt. It's on the Decor tab in my Winter decoration photos.
