Review of paints, dyes, cotton weights and battings

I've been stitching up throw size quilts testing various techniques such as painting versus dyeing, lightweight cotton fabrics, and soft batting's. My favorite is:
The turtle quilt! I made a misstep in the dyeing process (review past blogs). This photo doesn't do it justice.
It's dyed with Procion dyes on lawn cotton and heavily quilted on 50% rayon from bamboo batting, very soft and drapes beautifully.

My next favorite is:

Pizza Circle. It's painted on lawn with Pebeo Set-a-Color and most interesting, I painted two layers of lawn fabric at the same time. The back is just paler.

However I do prefer the dye fabrics. I think the "hand" is softer as the dye is absorbed. Certainly lots of stitching practice here.
And this was one that I tried various designs using the Sketchbook Pro App on Ipad.
My final favorite would be the regular cotton broadcloth with wool batt.

The quilting shows up beautifully!
