Fun with Charity Quilts

Charity quilts are quick, easy and fun. Pink Hearts is just the sweetest, some young one will enjoy these colors.

Modern log cabin is pretty in pink too, and a real adventure for me. After being on vacation, it was the first one on my HQ Avante. Did I still have vacation brain? First, I set my design too big to realign automatically so I had to "reset" every row (and it's almost 80" long). Then two-thirds of the way down I notice the horizontal seam on the outside back!  Oh gee, I loaded the backing upside-down. Being a charity quilt though, I chose not to "unsew" the rows of quilting.  I hand sewed a double layer strip to cover the seam, but my troubles were not over. Wanting to be precise, I used Elmers Glue to spot glue it into place then pressed to dry the glue and my iron left some gunk on the fabric! I pointed it out to Kathie who is sewing on the binding the errors of my way and really hope all comes out in the wash! Whew, a good reminder to double check loading from now on.

The vacation head error...
